RSG helps clients assess and reduce noise impacts on communities. Our services include measurement of existing noise levels, modeling noise transmission from existing or proposed noise sources, and developing noise mitigation plans. We are experienced in measuring and modeling noise from indoor and outdoor stationary sources such as common industrial and commercial sources and people. We also have extensive experience in measuring and modeling mobile noise sources including airplanes, helicopters, trains (light rail and freight), automobiles and trucks.
Noise has many qualitative aspects that do not lend themselves well to traditional quantitative analyses. While a certain type of noise may bother one person, it may not bother another. Our noise assessments determine what types of noises are present in the environment, describe the acoustical characteristics of those noises, and determine how they are perceived in the community. With this information, targeted mitigation measures can be proposed.
