Acoustic Canopy Enhances Museum Experience

Client: Montshire Museum

  • Designed an aesthetically pleasing and architecturally compatible acoustic canopy with effective noise damping characteristics
  • Measured long- and short-term noise levels at critical points in the museum, especially around the reception area, before construction of the canopy
  • Measured sound levels after canopy construction in the same locations as before to confirm targeted reductions in noise levels
  • Conducted a controlled experiment of sound pressure levels both outside and inside the canopy to account for variability in the number and loudness of museum guests
  • Measured reverberation time, post-construction, in various locations around the museum
