Stephane Hess, Senior Technical Adviser

Dr. Stephane Hess is a principal research fellow and Reader in Choice Modelling in the Institute for Transport at the University of Leeds and Visiting Research Scholar in the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies at the University of Sydney. His main research interests lie in the use of advanced discrete choice models for the analysis of travel behavior, an area where he has made several recent contributions to the state of the art in the specification, estimation, and interpretation of such models.

Dr. Hess has published more than 20 journal papers-including several on the benefits of advanced structures in actual large-scale transport analyses-and several book articles, as well as having made over 80 presentations at international conferences. In addition to his academic research, he is the editor in chief of the Journal of Choice Modelling and the organizer of the International Choice Modelling Conference. Dr. Hess holds a PhD in transport demand modelling from Imperial College London, a MPhil in statistical science from Cambridge University, and BSc in business mathematics with computing science from Manchester Metropolitan University.
